Many Travelers are Doubling costs on Insurance

Many individuals are purchasing travel insurance this holiday season without checking their home insurance policy. As a result a third of holiday travelers are paying twice the insurance to cover their property according to AA Home Insurance and many other travelers will have no coverage for the gifts they purchase.

So before taking out additional travel insurance on your luggage, money, gifts and any other personal valuables then you should check your home insurance. During the Christmas holiday period there are many home insurance policies that will increase coverage on personal property throughout the world when it leaves the house.

In addition, it is more important to have your valuables covered by your home insurance rather that purchasing additional travel insurance. Many travel insurance policies have limits that won't allow you to get the full value of any personal possessions that you may loose while traveling.

It is also wise to watch your home during the holiday season. Theft and burglary is higher during the holiday period and many often leave their homes unattended during these periods or are less alert when they are celebrating with family and friends. So it is wise to stay alert and take as many necessary extra security steps as needed to protect your Christmas from burglars and thieves this holiday season.
